Serotonin Uninstall Guide

Hello L2 Players! As many of you know, we are in the midst of a battle against hacking and cheating tools in our community. When we first announced our new initiative on Discord, we noticed that several users needed help uninstalling such software to avoid bans. We were instantly reluctant.

However, one special player changed our minds with a heartfelt response.

At first, our response was “NO!! Ishmila”. At NCA, it is not our policy to aid in anything related to third-party software. However, we were very touched by Ishmila’s brave and public plea. This alone caused us to have a meeting about the situation.

After 7 hours of arguing in our meeting room, the Lineage II team has decided that it’s possible that some users may have had third-party software placed on their computers accidentally or by evil doers. In the case of this rare situation, we have partnered with our security team to find a solution for users who want to uninstall Serotonin. Please see this helpful guide below

Serotonin Uninstall Guide

1. Open PURPLE.

2. Log in to Lineage II.

Seratonin is extremely invasive to a user’s system. The application or malware is hidden in the registry to avoid detection and can execute commands at the kernel level. This not only allows the application to have remote code execution, it also has persistence within the system, adding the application to autorun with Windows without the owner’s consent or knowledge.

3. Select your main character that has used the software.

4. Find your game type below and travel to the town listed.

After months of research and decrypting Serotonin, we realized that a backdoor administrator’s code was made available in game.

Our research first led us to believe that suspicious elderly folk such as Edwin were hiding the secrets to the admin code. We followed them for hours trying to find some sort of clue.

However, after several nights of research, we made a breakthrough while interrogating Edwin. He mentioned that certain guards held the secret. After working with all the guards in-game, we have discovered the correct guards who hold the admin unlock.

5. Find the correct NPC in the town.

6. Select the NPC, in the example below, we are selecting NPC “Glen”.

7. Bow three times to the NPC.

8. Drop 1 Adena and an item (preferably food, such as fish or soup) at your NPC’s feet. We have noticed that the items have a random probability of success.

9. If you would like to raise the rate, you can post a screenshot in our #game-photography Discord channel of your character bowing or offering items. Once posted, we will increase your Rate Modifier by 5%.

10. Use World Chat and shout “Forgive me, [NPC Name Here]!” For example, “Forgive me, Glen!”

11. If you are forgiven, a system message will appear saying “[Username] has been forgiven, Serotonin has been uninstalled.”

12. Congratulations Player! You are on your way to redemption!

13. If you do not receive the message. Please proceed to the next step.

14. Install an older version of the game such as Lineage II: The Chaotic Chronicle.

Our team has discovered that Serotonin has been around since the beginning of Lineage II, secretly embedding itself into the code. If the above method does not work, we will be able to try uninstalling the game through an older copy of Lineage II.

 

15. If you no longer have Lineage II: The Chaotic Chronicle, many used copies are still available on eBay.

 

 

16. You will also need to obtain a computer with a CD-ROM drive to install the game.

 

Your computer must have the following Minimum System Specifications:

• Windows XP/Me/2000/98
• 800 MHz Intel Pentium III
• 256 MB RAM
• 4x CD-ROM
• 2 GB free hard drive space
• GeForce2 Class card with 32MB VRAM
• DirectX 8.1 compatible sound card
• 56k Internet Connection (we recommend America Online)

17. Now that you have the older PC, please network it to your current PC. We will need to establish a link between the two computers so that Serotonin can be removed on both PCs.

18. Insert the Lineage II: The Chaotic Chronicle disk into your new old PC’s CD-ROM.

19. If the game does not automatically install, please troubleshoot for how to custom install the game on Ask Jeeves or Webcrawler.

20. Once Lineage II: The Chaotic Chronicle is installed, please connect to the internet using the 56k Dial Up connection.

21. When a proper connection is initiated, launch Lineage II.

22. Once you have the means, travel to the Elven Village.

23. Go to the hunting grounds and kill the following number of monsters in this exact order:

24. After the final kill, you should receive the message “Thank you for using Serotonin, we will now uninstall the program.”

25. At this step, you will now be removing Serotonin from the newly purchased vintage PC. As long as your computer is networked to the old PC, it should remove itself from that new PC as well from the old PC.

26. Congratulations Player! Serotonin has now been uninstalled!

27. If these steps did not work, and Serotonin is still installed, please go to the next step.

28. Search Add or Remove Programs in your Windows search bar.

29. Navigate to Serotonin.

30. Click Uninstall.

If you have successfully uninstalled Serotonin, you should see a screen like this:
